Executive Letter

4-H Canada started the 2024-25 year, having emerged from a year of substantial change, focused on recovering its balance.

Having been stripped back to basics, 2024-25 was a year of assessment and renewal. A year when priorities became crystallized, and the work of rebuilding took centre stage.

As this year comes to a close, we reflect on the many ways that those who tend to and support the 4-H movement in Canada helped this organization rebuild.

Partners stayed with us even though many businesses were themselves rebuilding through difficult economic times.

Individual donors answered the call when we launched Tomorrow Needs 4-H, a fundraiser designed to help rebuild our reserves after navigating some difficult days. Both media and alumni helped spread the word about the campaign, which increased donations and reawakened support for the movement.

Provinces helped by coming to the table with constructive feedback and willing collaboration.

And both staff and governance members went above and beyond as we worked to not only seize the opportunities that came our way, but to navigate the challenges that were inevitable.

The past year also saw the number of members and leaders participating in 4-H increase, and significant progress made toward building a strategic three-year plan that will strengthen the movement for generations to come.

The result? Well, a year that began with significant challenges concluded with noteworthy successes and a renewed sense of optimism about the future of 4-H in Canada.

As always, thank you for your interest in 4-H Canada. And thank you for being part of this memorable year.

The People

2024-2025 Youth Advisory Committee

The Youth Advisory Committee is made up of outstanding 4-H youth members who want to continue to play a role in, and contribute to, the growth of the 4-H movement in Canada. YAC members represent 4-H Canada at events and conferences and help drive the policy development and decision making of 4-H Canada. The Youth Advisory Committee meets regularly to make recommendations to 4-H Canada on programming, marketing, and communications, as well as policy development.

“4-H has shaped both my childhood and my future, helping me develop the skills and connections needed to prepare for my career. Serving on YAC has given me the opportunity to practise these skills while working with an amazing group of people to ensure that others have a similarly impactful 4-H experience.” ~ Mary Brander

“Throughout my time on the Youth Advisory Committee, I have grown both personally and professionally. The experience has brought unique challenges that have helped me build valuable skills in governance, networking, and leadership. I am proud to represent youth at a governance level and to support operational programming, all while feeling deeply supported by 4-H Canada throughout this journey. YAC has been more than just a learning opportunity; it has also given me lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories.” ~ Katie MacNeil
