Jack Pemberton Youth Development Bursary

The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, in partnership with 4-H Canada, is pleased to offer the Jack Pemberton Youth Development Bursary to a senior 4-H member residing outside of Ontario with a keen interest in agriculture and a desire to attend Toronto’s Royal Agricultural Winter Fair.

The Jack Pemberton Youth Development Bursary is not being offered in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the cancellation of the 2021 Royal Agricultural Winter Fair.

Meet the 2019 Recipient

Kira Axley

Kira Axley has been a member of the Czar-Metiskow 4-H Club, in Czar, Alberta for nine years. Growing up on her family’s cattle farm, Kira has developed a true passion for the agricultural industry. Throughout her years in 4-H, Kira has attended numerous cattle shows with beef cattle that she has raised from her own purebred stock. Not only does she have a strong interest in the cattle industry and in showing cattle, but her interest extends to other livestock species and she is looking forward to new experiences during her time at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair.

When asked why she is excited to attend the Royal, Kira said “I was extremely honoured to receive this once in a lifetime experience! I thoroughly enjoy livestock shows and I cannot wait to see the variety of exhibits at the RAWF. I am very excited to have the opportunity to network with some of the producers at the fair and watch the many different livestock shows. Having the chance to take in Toronto's culture will also be one of the highlights!”

Kira has been awarded a $2,500 Jack Pemberton Youth Development Bursary that will cover the cost of travel to and within Toronto.
