Careers on the Grow

Being a part of 4-H prepare you for your future career. You are developing decision making, communication and leadership skills – which are in demand in today’s workplace.

4-H Canada’s Careers on the Grow is a career development program where you can explore career paths, apply your skills and gain hands-on work experience through:

  • Internship placements
  • Networking and mentorship
  • Career exploration resources


With Careers on the Grow internship placements, you can take advantage of hands-on learning opportunities within companies, on farms, with social enterprises, and in rural and urban communities across Canada and abroad. Internships are available to 4-H members or recent alumni ages 18 to 25.

Placements range from three to eight weeks and are customized to meet the needs of the individual 4-H member.

There is no registration fee. 4-H members are given a $250 honorarium for each week worked for Canadian placements, and an honorarium based on in-country costs for international placements.

In Canada – Supported by RBC:

  • FoodShare, Toronto, Ontario (2 placements)
  • Glacier FarmMedia, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (1 placement)
  • Canadian Museum of Nature, Ottawa, Ontario (1 placement)

International – Supported by Saputo:

  • 4-H Argentina, Argentina (2 placements)

Virtual Job Fair

February 21, 2019 – Open to 4-H members and alumni aged 18 to 25

The 4-H Canada Virtual Job Fair uses online chatting to connect you with prospective employers from anywhere in the country, at a time convenient for you. You will have access to job postings, be able to upload your resume and meet directly with organizations to learn more about them and their available positions.

Mentorship Circles at Members Forum

Mentorship Circles are a great way for you to meet industry leaders and experts, chat about career paths, education and life lessons. This networking opportunity is held during our annual Members Forum.
