Governance

At the national level, 4-H Canada (previously known as the Canadian 4-H Council) was created in 1933 to act on behalf of the 4-H movement in Canada. Operationally, 4-H Canada staff handles the planning, implementation and management of national programs, scholarships and more.

About the 4-H Canada Board of Directors

The 4-H Canada Board of Directors is a national volunteer board that governs 4-H Canada, oversees and sets 4-H Canada’s overarching strategic direction and is accountable to its members.

The board is elected by the Members of 4-H Canada - individuals over 18 years of age and organizations dedicated to the advancement of the 4-H movement in Canada.

Elections and Nominations

Help influence the direction of the 4-H movement in Canada. Become a Member of 4-H Canada by March 30, 2023, and participate in the upcoming 4-H Canada Board of Directors election. To submit a nomination, contact us at governance@4-h-canada.ca. The screening process includes interviews and nomination committee reviews.

  • Call for nominations begins: March 2023 
  • Nominations and acceptance deadline: March 24, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. ET 
  • Screening process: April 2023 
  • Nominees confirmed as candidates: April 28, 2023 
  • Election: April 3-20, 2023 
  • Annual General Meeting: July 12, 2023
