The 4-H Pledge

The 4-H Pledge is at the heart of the 4-H program and represents the values of 4-H members, volunteers and alumni.

I pledge
My head to clearer thinking,
My heart to greater loyalty,
My hands to larger service,
My health to better living,
For my club, my community,
my country, and my world.

We’ve updated the 4-H Pledge!

The 4-H Pledge is getting the addition of '…and my world' at the end to better reflect our promise as 4-H’ers to commit our head, heart, hands and health to the world around us.

4-H in Canada’s footprint is no longer limited by geography and our programs and the interests of our members reach well beyond our borders.

At the 2017 Global 4-H Network Summit, many of our members noticed that other 4-H organizations around the world had already included ‘…and my world’ when they recited the 4-H Pledge. As part of a leading global movement in positive youth development of more than 70 countries and seven million youth members, 4-H needed to reflect this evolution and take on a larger, more impactful vision for its members and its programming, above and beyond our physical borders.

The 4-H Pledge represents a 4-H movement that is proud of its heritage and knows the importance of its legacy while embracing change in a determined, passionate and globally-minded way, as we collectively harness the power to change the world.

The updated 4-H Pledge in Canada came into effect on July 11, 2019.
