This initiative is delivered in three focus areas that contribute to a healthy lifestyle and overall well-being.

Mental Health

Resources in this focus area will allow youth and leaders to achieve a state of well-being where they are able to reach their own potential and make positive contributions to their community. 4-H Canada has partnered with Kids Help Phone to develop these resources.

Physical Health

Resources in this focus area will allow youth and leaders to achieve a state of well-being where they are able to properly care for their bodies and make choices that improve their overall health. 4-H Canada has partnered with ParticipACTION to develop these resources.

My Plate and the Planet

My Plate and the Planet is an opportunity for youth to learn about the food we eat and the world around us, participate in hands-on activities, and have some 4-H fun in your own home! The Activity Book has everything you’ll need to facilitate learning on food literacy and food security, either at home or as a club.

A response to the needs of youth

The Healthy Living Initiative is in response to the critical needs of youth in rural communities in Canada. Young people living in rural and remote communities are at greater risk of experiencing struggles related to their mental and physical well-being and also lack the resources and services that might be available to those in more urban areas.

The Healthy Living Initiative is made possible thanks to the generous support of:
