FCC contributes $107,000 to 4-H clubs across Canada

Ottawa, ON, December 19, 2017 – 4-H is proud to announce that the Farm Credit Canada (FCC) 4-H Club Fund has provided $107,000 to 216 clubs across Canada that will support various activities and local events.

The fund is part of FCC’s $250,000 annual commitment to 4-H Canada club fund. This contribution, in addition to supporting local 4-H activities, supports national as well as provincial 4-H initiatives.

Fostering a thriving and vibrant agricultural community is a goal and value that both FCC and 4-H Canada share. It is a partnership that has been affecting positive change in Canadian communities for over 25 years. With this funding 4-H Canada can better support and develop the responsible, caring and contributing young Canadians that will affect positive change in the world around them.

“4-H Canada is extremely grateful for FCC’s continued support of the 4-H Club fund,” said 4-H Canada CEO, Shannon Benner. “The 4-H movement in Canada will only grow stronger in partnership with organizations that share the same values and commitment to developing responsible, caring and contributing young leaders at the grassroots level.”

The FCC 4-H Club Fund awards up to $500 for projects such as achievement days, skill building workshops, field trips, public speaking competitions and purchase of club supplies, just to name a few. The next application period opens in fall 2018.

“The FCC 4-H Club Fund is part of our long-term investment in the future of agriculture,” said Todd Klink, executive vice-president and chief marketing officer at FCC. “Projects offered through 4-H Canada are aimed at developing the leadership, confidence, and values young people will need to be successful in this vibrant and growing industry, as well as life outside of agriculture. Of course, it’s no secret we want the next generation to consider a career in agriculture and the agri-food sector, so we are proud to support 4-H programs that strengthen the bond between this industry and young people across Canada.”
